Stick Weaving Mat
Here are pictures of my sticks which I used to make the rug from and the finished article, it's rustic. The sticks were made from a length of dowel, which we cut into pieces, then drilled a hole into and sharpened one end into a point. I used cotton twine for the warp and Icelandic Lopi wool for the weft, which was very thick so the rug grew quickly. I pulled each strip very tight, this is why the rug isn't completely flat to the ground, but it's really tough. I got the Lopi wool from Texere Yarns ages ago and this was perfect for the project.
It's very warm, just ready for winter.
